In a touching moment at the Celebration of Professional Excellence event, billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote was moved to tears as he paid tribute to his late friend and mentee, Herbert Wigwe.
The event, held on March 4, was organized to honor the former bank chief, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash alongside his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizzy, on February 9.
Esteemed friends and business associates of Wigwe gathered at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos to remember his remarkable achievements as a renowned banker.
During the event, individuals such as Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede, Gov Dapo Abiodun, Femi Adesina, Wigwe’s staff, former secondary school classmates, and many others paid tribute to the 57-year-old.
However, it was Aliko Dangote’s heartfelt speech that resonated deeply with the attendees.
Dangote reflected on the close bond he shared with Wigwe, describing him as a friend, brother, and mentee.
He expressed gratitude for Wigwe’s unwavering support in the development of his businesses, showing the immense impact Wigwe had on his entrepreneurial journey.
